yeah, chis are like toddlers, they need a special kind of supervision. Just
like I'd allow my 10 y/o daughter to play out back alone or with friends, but
wouldn't consider it for a two year old. Not without me also being outside.

Chis are smart, but they are still so small and vulnerable.

We had neighborhood kids who used to like opening our back gate and letting our
poodle out. I wanted to string them up, but ultimately the dog is our
responsibility so we simply put a padlock on the gate. Problem solved.

I am always reminded of a friend of my sister in laws who had a chi. She always
left it outside un attended. One day 2 boys decided to torture and chase the
chi. They chased it into a pool where it drowned. My first thought was of
sadness that kids could be so mean and sadness for the dog's last minutes.
then my next thought was anger at the owner for being so careless.

My husband left our chi out today and went to sleep (he works nights). No one
else was at home. I don't know how long she was outside, at least an hour or
so. He doesn't get why I worry so much because we do let the poodle out
unattended for longer periods of time, weather permitting. But even at 9lbs,
Tiffany is so small and it makes me and the kids very uneasy. I'll show this
story to my hubby. He adores Tiffany, just doesn't think anything bad could
happen. Obviously, not true.

That is so sad but those dogs should not have been left outside alone period.
Sorry if that sounds harsh but sometimes people just don't think when they
should.

Doug Chase, the Chihuahuas owner, says when he came out to his backyard after
lunch he didn't hear the dogs barking.
Instead he saw all four dead on the lawn.
