We are not traveling now. My husband has a lot of health problems and is not
comfortable getting too far from home. Besides we have to take an oxygen
concentrator, a nebulizer, and a C Pap machine. That is a lot to fit in a
Casita, a 17 ft. long trailer (including hitch), it looks like one of those
white plastic eggs that L'eggs pantyhose come in. Because of our 23 year age
difference, we know there will be a time when I will be traveling again, alone
this time.

However we spent years traveling all over the US from our home in
Massachusetts, mostly National Parks, Monuments, BLM, and Army Corp
campgrounds, we avoided big cities. We had a 26 ft. class C, and then a 25 ft.
class A. In both of those we traveled with two Black Lab / German Shepard
mixes, and then in the Class A and the Casita we traveled with a 48 lb. mutt.
There was always room for everybody once we got sorted out.

We downsized to the Casita in 2000 because I was doing most of the maintenance
and the driving and the Class A was more than I wanted to do. We found the
Casita perfect for the two of us and the mutt. We did a 4 week trip with no
problems. You just learn to take fewer things, and the dog learns where to be
when certain activities are being preformed.

Now that the mutt is almost 16 years old, and the husband is almost 84 we
decided that we needed some young life in the house. Raul, my chi, is 6 months
old. Right now he is prefect to sit in my husbands lap and snuggle, is not a
threat to the mutt who has perked up a bit, but is not into playing, and he
makes us laugh - something this house needed more of - way too many Drs. visits
for enough laughter.

There was a fear that I would loose my whole family almost at the same time,
now I will have Raul to keep me sane. He will be the perfect alarm system for
traveling in the Casita, and yet small enough so I can pick him up and get into
places that I couldn't get into with the mutt (Ginger) on a leash.

Oh, we located out of the cold north to the high desert of southern New Mexico.
Chihuahua land.
