That's the busy life we lead. I know about that too. I work 4 days a week and
still never seem to get caught up!

If I had a digital camera, I would send it, lol. That is actually the only
thing he does do....I have not gave him the attention I should have in his
training due to so much other stuff in my life.....I have really let him down.
I keep promising myself and him that I will make it up to him. He will be a
year old the 12th of this month.......I have definitely put it off way to long.

That's funny, the crawling part. I can picture that. Dogs are so funny,
aren't they? I'd like to see a picture of him crawling to you!

I have a hard time catching Barley, Taz and Dinah. Taz and Dinah only give me
problems when it is time to go potty because they do not want to go
outside....so I have to pretend I am just sitting down and they run and jump in
my lap, lol
Barley runs because he doesn't want to be put back in his x-pen...where he
must stay when not supervised because he is not yet housebroken. So, I taught
him to crawl. Now, when I want him to come to be to be put back up, I just have
him crawl to me....he thinks the crawling is a fun game so he is happy to
oblige. I don't have any trouble catching any of them except at these two
times...potty and confinement.
at 6 months old, she is testing you. IT all just a fun game to her to see
how far she can go. Find something that makes her want to come to you and use
that as a training point....like Barley crawling....maybe a special treat when
you say a certain word like "come" or something. I know some chis who will come
running when their favorite toy is squeaked, ect
Also, if the problem is only when you are standing, it could be just that she
is so small and you seem so big and it may be a bit scary for her and she feels
more comfortable when you are sitting down because you are more on her level....

picking your Chihuahuas up? I have had Cricket only a few weeks. I
got her at 5 months old and she is now almost 6 months old. I have no
issues with her, so far, except when I try to pick her up, she runs
away. She is very fast and it's almost impossible to pick her up. I
have been trying not to chase her around to catch her but when I need
to pick her up to put her in the kitchen or for any other reason, she
is very skiddish about it and will not let me. I have tried just
sitting there and waiting for her to come to me and that works, but
takes forever. If I need to put her in her playpen because I have to
leave for work, for instance, I really need to be able to get her in
there quickly and not wait until it is convenient for her. I also
tried calling her but she won't have it. If I am sitting down, she
loves to come and sit on my lap. She loves to be held as long as I am
not standing up.

I really want her to be okay with me handling her. How can I get her
to trust me?

Trust will come as long as you show her she can. If she has ever been
dropped or hurt while in someones arms it may take a little time.
Start calling her a little earlier when you need to put her in the
playpen, and keep your voice normal. Do not let her hear frustration
or anger. I got one 3 1/2 pound rescue when he was 3 and all I do now
is put my hand down and cup my fingers facing me and say PARK and he
comes running and centers his tummy right in my palm. Keep trying it
will come.
