We had to put up a gate. I have a rat terrier that can jump the gate but we
have explained to her very firmly not to do it and she hasn't yet. But if I go
out and she sees me out there she will still jump the gate, we have to close
the front door completely to keep her in. The others can't get over the gate.
So you open the door and the gate stops the dogs, either you step over the gate
or depending on what kind of gate you put up, you open the gate. We have a
doggie gate on inside of front door so we can step over it and dogs can't get
over it, plus a walk through gate on the porch which has lattice work around
it. But my yard is fenced and we have a 6 ft privacy fence so if they do get
out they can't go anywhere but I can't take a chance on my shih tzus falling in
my water garden, they sink, all that hair just pulls them under.

My 5.5 month old chi is picking up some very bad habits. One being, as
soon as our outside door opens, he darts out and runs across the
street to grandma and grandpas! His brother lives there with them and
he loves to go visit, however, even though our road isn't a very busy
one, there is always the chance of him getting hurt. How do I correct
this? I have thought about putting him in a plastic carrier with no
comforts as a time out but am not sure if it will cause more bad
behaviors.

Also, he likes to eat poopies. YUCK! I feed him pedigree, and he is
well fed, so I cant imagine why he would eat that. Should I change his
food? My friend suggested evo something or another and also suggested
feeding him a raw diet, not sure about how safe that is.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I love my dog smoochies, but it
makes lovin gross!!!!

Thanks,
Lori
