It is quiet common and yes I have experienced it. For some it is only in
certain situations, like if they have been scolded for something, or only when
someone attempts to pick them up, ect. For others they may be naturally nervous
and it can happen in many many situations. Bottom line though, this is NOT a
case of marking or of being a bad dog or anything like that.....it is a fear
response. A lot of times it makes no sense....like when a dog has never had any
reason to be afraid....but they can't help their personalities and natural
responses.

My Pepper will do this if I pick him up without forewarning. He gets scared.
But if he sees me coming and knows I am about to pick him up, it is not a
problem.

I would try to keep in mind that this is usually out of their control and
approach it in that manner. I personally do not have any answers as to how to
"cure" it.....it is psychological in most cases. First, rule out any medical
conditions that keeps them from being physically able to hold their bladder. If
there is no medical reason, then just try to always reassure them of their
safety. Try to pin point what situations bring on this anxiety and try to
alleviate those that you can. I have also found it helpful to reassure them,
after it has happened, that it is ok...that they are not in trouble because I
know they can't help it. Pepper also gets real scared if he throws up.....in
that case I also try to reassure him that it is ok and he is not in trouble
because he can't help that he is sick. I do not think that fear is something a
dog has full control over (have you ever grabbed the "oh crap" handle while
riding as a passenger in a car because something scared you? It is a natural
reaction that you really can't help)

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Excited chihuahuas and peeing

I have a question for others on here. Everytime my dog gets really
excited a little bit of pee squirts out. Doesn't occur all the time,
but quite a bit. Anybody else experience this with there dog.
