Sounds as if she has flea dermatitis. My English Setter is that way. Make sure she doe not get fleas. Sassy gets terrible sores and her hair falls out if she gets fleas. I bathe her with medicated shampoo and allow it her to soak a few minutes and repeat. The crust that forms on the skin causes them to bite themselves and make the sores worse. The hair will take a few months to grow back. As long as you have no fleas, she should get better. -- em :)
===================== From: "rogers.gina" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: 2007/10/28 Sun PM 09:11:17 CDT To: [email protected] Subject: [Chihuahuas] hair loss Hi! I am new to the group. I have a question for chihuahua owners who have knowledge concerning chihiahua health problems. This summer my long coat chihuahua, Luna, went a few days without her interceptor dose. She came in contact with fleas and had an allergic reaction. She developed little sores that look like pimples on her underbelly, neck and leg shanks. They also apperared on her spine. She was constantly scratching and licking herself. I took her to our vet and was given an antibiotic, prednisone, and prescription dog shampoo. It helped but I noticed hair loss under her neck and on the back along the entire length of her spine. I had her tested for thyroid, the initial test and then the more expensive test. Both turned out negative. I, also, changed food for a few months and as soon as I saw the problem I went back to her original food. I am very concerned and feel I need to go to a dog dermatologists.
