I never really wanted a dog period.. Was always a cat person because I
worked so much. Then I became disabled and got my lab mix by default. I was
supposedly babysitting for a few weeks.. He was 9 MO old then and he will
turn 6 yrs old next month. Well when he was about 18 MO, we went to get him
a companion from the pound.. We thought it was another lab mix. Turned out
to be a basenji lab mix and more on the basenji side. I was the proud parent
of Ashlee for 3yrs till she went to the Rainbow Bridge .. She had always
been sick and doc said she had congenital problems.

Okay I started looking for a Basenji. . Just before Ashlee passed these new
people moved in across the street and they had a chi that used to visit me..
And she was just the sweetest thing.. Always wanted to love and kiss on me
and be held. So while I was looking for a Basenji.. I ran across my Tia on
line.. And something kept me going back to her picture.. I found on
petfinder.com at a rescue about 2hrs from me. She is a full blooded long
hair.. But I believe she is what unscrupulous breeders call medium hair..
Lol.. Anyway she was scruffy looking and picture made her look so ugly that
I fell in love with her cuz I felt she needed a good home.

And oh man , she is a lot prettier than her picture and still kinda scruffy
looking though. Definitely not show quality but I never planned on showing
or breeding anyhow.. But she is so loyal, I went out the house through the
side door yesterday and she didn't see me go out.. I was outside about 15min
and came in there front door and she acted like I had been gone days.

She is the grandbaby my kids havent provided me with. She lets me put pretty
dresses on her. Plus motorcycle goggles and vest. She rides on the Harley
with us sometimes. She is super intelligent. And the way she looks at me.
She will stay in bed with me from the time I go there until I get up, even
it is a long afternoon nap. She just lays down on her pillow. She is hardly
ever more than a few feet from unless I have to go out and I leave her home.

I hope this explains it.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] ????

I was talking to my fiance today and we we're talking about the chi's.
He asked me a very good question. What made my want a chihuahua? Why
that breed?

I really had to think of a good answer. When I was younger I always
had large dogs (labs, sheperds ect.) So when I got my first apartment
I knew didn't want a room mate, I wanted a companion. I reserch all
kinds of different breeds for months. Than I remembered the chihuahua
my childhood friend had. All that little dog wanted to do is be with
her. That was what I wanted a chihuahua. I was talking to breeders,
rescues and looking online. I just couldn't find the right one for me.
So I wait abou two years.
On my 21st birthday I was looking at the the local classified ads and
found a breeder about an 45min. from my house. She had a litter of
three puppies. I had full intentions of getting a female but as soon
as I picked him up I knew he was my dog. He licked my face and then
tucked his little nose in my arms. I guess it's just like everything
else in life...You just know when something is meant to be.
I now have two chihuahuas and I would change a thing. I've never had
anything or anyone give such unconditional love. They are my life..I
just wouldn't know what to do with.out them

So I wanted to ask you all why chi's?
