Rose, I understand where you are coming from. However if you appointed some
active group members as moderators then they could help you look out for
things like this w/o actually putting the group on moderation. Let a few
moderators have access to all group things and they can get rid of the
spammers. In case you could not be online. I am on a group that does this
and it works great. Something to think about anyway.

To everyone,

I've deleted all the offensive postings and banned the various senders.

As explained before, but maybe some other members didn't get to see
it, I feel its a bad idea to put the group on moderation. Besides the fact
that it demands constant attention, the main reason is because sometimes an
emergency message will be posted and needs to be read and responded to
immediately. We had such a message earlier this year when I had the group
on moderation, and sadly by the time I read the message (a day later) it was
too late to help.

Since this happened I have vowed never again set the group on
moderation, no matter if spammers get through or not. It happens to every
group sooner or later, and fortunately most member understand and simply
ignore/delete the ones that get through until I get a chance to ban the
offender. I can't be here every minute of every day, but you know we all
have busy lives and things to do with our families, as well as having health
problems too. I love this group, and all our little friends, our Chi
babies! That's why I started it years ago, to create a place for Chihuahua
owners all over the world to come together and share information and talk
about our pets.

It's a shame these spammers have to exist and intrude on our group, and I
don't know if there will ever be a way to prevent this other than
moderation. But I ask that every please understand the reasons why we
must not moderate. Thanks for your cooperation!

    ~Rose
