Yea, I hear where you're coming from. I don't breed and leave that up
to reputable breeders.
If I wanted to show my Chi - I would do my research and find the ones
who are currently showing, interview them, figure if I can co-own, check out
Chihuahua Club of America, ask a bunch of questions, then go from there.

Most breeders have knowledge of their lines...like the Blue color. I don't
see that color very often - I like some of the Merles, but that is NOT a
recognized
color and are considered a genetic threat to AKC and some clubs.Gloria C I will
say of the Lord, HE is myRefuge and my Fortress, my God; on HIM ...I lean, rely
and (confidently) trust! Psalm 91:2

I think it depends on the breeder. If your are truly breeding to improve the
breed standard, you would follow the AKC standard and use dog's that meet the
standard. IE 6lbs or less. This is why we have people on this sight, posting
they have dog's over the weight standard, when "the breeder" told them
something else. You breed a dog that weighs 8 lbs, genetically you can pass
that weight to puppies. I've asked this question many times, but why breed
because you love the breed. I love my chi's just like everyone else, but I
would not breed them, just because I love the breed. Breeding is a huge
responsibility, one that can not be taken lightly. These are JMO. Not posted to
