i have never read anything about the "enzymes" in bone cleaning teeth?? where
can i find this information i would love to know!! =)~... i have always read
its the combo of NOT eating sugar laden kibbles that stick to teeth, plus meats
NOT stickin to teeth, plus the action of bone chewing..i know when i first
switched my danes to raw my oldest was 5 and it took feeding 3x a day almost
6-7 months to clean her molars completely.... the 2 yr old was over night and
the pup never has had anything but white teeth...

for me the whole thought of bone cooked or not is the scary part...Most of the
breeders in my group don't even reccomend feeding RAW what so ever..I have fed
semi cooked food for them lot's of rice and also some veggies in the past...But
if I switch to this I want to do it right I think if I were feeding teenies I
would want to be safe all the way around..And I do have some that are 2lbs and
my biggest being around 12 lbs maybe more tubby she is...Then the only big
dog's I have would be a sheltie and a lab x...All of your suggestions are good
ones.

Kelly...as far as the ground or not I guess for me it is just a matter of peace
of mind. I would imagine you may be right to some extent...but not enough of
a difference for me to take a risk with such a little one...and with Myrtle not
really eating through bones she wasn't getting enough bone to meat ratio...so
grinding works until she can.

and forgot to add...even in the ground..it is the enzymes in the bone that is
good for the teeth...ground or not they are getting those enzymes that clean
and keep teeth and breath great! It really makes little difference whether it
is ground or not!

Just because a dog is fed raw food does not mean that they will have good
teeth.  I disagree that it makes no difference whether it is ground or not.  My
dogs definitely have nicer looking teeth when eating whole items vs ground.
