Oh man I can relate to that .. My oldest Tia, was a shelter dog from a shut
down puppy mill. She took months to settle and is still way different from
my other two chi's.. She was around 6 MO old when I got her and spent the
next 3 MO wrapped in a receiving blanket on my lap or shoulder, she never
really played with toys or much else. She is attached to my one cat Elvis
who is about her same age, and she will defend the younger chi's to her
death. But she is still different.

She just know they can require tons of extra support. Oh and she also has
health problems they do not.

But all that being said, she is just perfect.. lol

Also a lot of times from shelters there not all owner surrenders some may be
from Mills...So the adults are more stand offish and will take lot's of love
and time and I do mean time many think a month is long enough...And it's not
..even though there life may have been a bad one it's all they knew and
living life in a home is more stressful then being in a cage...Lot's of
patience is must..I know when I have adults to re-home I like to do it
before they get to old it's not fair to them they grieve like we do for
there owners...

I don't mind puppies, but I'm leaning toward adultish cause I know they get
looked over sometimes! I don't mind some training... That was helpful! Thank
you...

Well I am not a rescuer but have done some in my day...I would look for
personality and as much background info you can on each one...That's the
same thing people do when coming to us as breeders..Find out if there used
to children etc..do you want a puppy or adult do you want one who's
housebroke or are you willing to take the time to correct or train..Lot's of
??'s to ask yourself...
