Oh man I can relate to that .. My oldest Tia, was a shelter dog from a shut down puppy mill. She took months to settle and is still way different from my other two chi's.. She was around 6 MO old when I got her and spent the next 3 MO wrapped in a receiving blanket on my lap or shoulder, she never really played with toys or much else. She is attached to my one cat Elvis who is about her same age, and she will defend the younger chi's to her death. But she is still different.
She just know they can require tons of extra support. Oh and she also has health problems they do not.
