Hi and welcome to the group!

My opinion would be to look first at the food you feed and its ingredients.
should not have corn, wheat, or by-products. first ingredient should be the
Meat such as Chicken, Turkey, Beef, lamb etc.
2nd... I would use salmon oil on his food daily. Its good for the skin, coat
and heart! follow the direction as to how much per lb of dog.

I am feeding "Freshpet Select" from Albertsons in the refrigerator section of
the dog food isle. Its like homemade, but I do not have to cook it! lol. here
is the link so you can read about it.

They also sell freshpet vital which is like feeding raw.

Just remember that as long as you feed a good quaility near natural as possible
dog food, its ok. Some dogs are alergic to an ingredient in the dog food also.

I have thought about trying "blue buffalo" and see if Ricky likes that. I would
love to find a good & tasty kibble he would eat. anyone know of one?

just my thoughts and opinions

I'm new and from Wisconsin and it's great to "meet" you all.

I have a gorgeous, friendly, sparkly eyed seven month old puppy who is mostly
chi (3/4 chi 1/4 shitzu), but he is more like a chihuahua. In fact, he is like
one in every way (I had one before) especially dry skin. He scratches his paws
and little behind with his teeth and, although I'm sure you've had this
discussion before,I would be very grateful if I could get suggestions on how to
soothe him. I have doggy s shampoo for itchy skin, but don't want to bathe him
too often for fear of making things worse. Suggestions? Thank you very much.
