Hi,
I think I kinda overkill in this area. Cooper is chipped, has an ID tag for
every collar and his "Home Again" ID. I have a cat collar with a bell on him
also. So I know where he is at all times. The poor guy probably doesn't know
what silence is!!!

Over Thanksgiving was Cooper's first time hosting the family. I'm proud to say
that he did very well. He greeted everyone from a distance, sat on my
grandson's
lap in the living room, sat at attention near the dinner table and cleaned up
after everyone left - the perfect host!!
I think your experience has helped many of us remember how easy it is for our
little ones to quickly get out of our sight.

Your are so right, this is the main reason why I put the ID tags on my girls on
the first day that I got them, plus the micro chip. It can happen to anyone,
and your right again, with the holidays and so many people coming and going it
is really necessary for all of us to do double checks.

When I have a lot of company, just before they come and just before they are
getting ready to leave, I crate the girls. I feel much better and don't have to
worry about them sneaking out trying to follow me or my guest out the door.

Thank you Laura,
I feel terrible but I had to put my pride aside and share with you all as that
is why we are all here is to help us learn from our mistakes and to also
share our successes. I just am so blessed that something did not happen to her
and I wanted everyone to remember that the holidays are a busy time with people
coming in and out and we have to keep an extra special eye on our babies. I saw
here come in the house - but she is only 3 months old and I should of double
checked. It also taught me humility as I always think how could someone lose
their chihuahua ~ now I do not judge.

Nancy, don't beat yourself up about it. It was a mistake and an angel watched
over her until you were able to get her back inside. Love and spoil her extra
today.  You have certainly caused me to be on guard more than usual and that's
a
good thing.

I always thought that people that lost their dogs were awful and not careful
and
irresponsible. Well I have to share what happened to me last night so that it
will make everyone aware of how easy something like this can happen.

I was at my dear friends house Gail and we were exchanging some Christmas
dresses for our girls. Gail has a big front yard with a hedge all the way
around
it and we took the girls out to go potty. We called them in and they all ran
in.
Gail and I were talking about the gifts and our babies and all of a sudden I
heard Maggie cry - at first I thought as she has a large home that she got
stuck
somewhere. So Gail, her son, husband and I all went on a frantic search. I said
I think it came from outside even though I saw her come in. We went outside and
sitting on the middle of the lawn was my baby Maggie, shaking and scared. The
only thing that we can figure out what happened is before we shut the door she
ran back outside. I was mortified and so was Gail as we have always considered
our selves such good dog parents.

Thank God that an angel was watching over my little girl or she could of been
gone forever. So during this busy time during the holidays make sure that you
keep an extra close eye on your babies with people coming in and out.

I did not share this story  to get any lectures as I already feel terrible and
cried my self to sleep last night, but if my story can make you more aware of
how easy this can happen then it is worth it.

So like my mother use to tell me never say never....
