Hi all! I'm new to the group and basically new to dogs as well (well kind of). I have a nine month old chihuahua, whom I've had since he was 3 months old. My friend from work and his wife (who's wife is a very small time breeder), gave me a Louie the worlds most awesome chi (friendly, outgoing, quiet, fun, etc)! I've spoken with many chi owners and they suggested that I get another chi for Louie's sake, so I did. I purchased one about a week and a half ago. He's very young, about 6-7 weeks old (I know that the previous owners sold him way too soon, but I figured if anyone was going to buy him it would be best if it was me). Now I love both dogs to death and treat them like kings, but I need to know how to get the new puppy to stop nipping and biting so much. Will my older dog help to teach him to stop by play biting? is there something I should be doing? I've been placing his edible chew toys/chew sticks in his mouth as soon as he nips me when I pet or play with him. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to curve this behavior for such a young pup? I know if he would have stayed with his mom and dad for another month or two he would have been taught by his mom better behavior, but there's nothing I can do about that now! Again, any suggestions?!
