Hello Annette: I use a Solo pet door. I have four Chi's and none of them have any issues. They do cost allot, but built very well. It is electronic and has a heavy metal frame. Comes in many sizes. If you call the company directly you will talk with Hank Solo the owner. At first I wanted to make sure the door would work with my Chi's and he said when we first came up with the door, it was for his own Chi.

Ours are less than 4 lbs. in size and I doubted they could push open the door we were looking at at Petco (it had two flaps plus a padded center panel so they would have to push through that as well--I liked how well it was insulated though).
