About a month or so ago, we had some snow flurries here. My neighbor called to tell me that it was snowing so I went out, but I didn't see any.her snow was accumulating on the Astroturf, whereas I have rocks and they must be warmer and the snow didn't stick.I had a little on the tops of the bushes and a good amount was collected on Dolly & Desi's mats that they lay on outside.
Well anyway, when I went outside to see the snow, I left the door partly opened and little Desi Lou was outside and running around.he liked it.but he doesn't like going out in the rain. Dolly uses the 'nose system' she stands inside when I open the door and raises her head slightly and starts smelling.I guess if she smells the humidity she will not go out. She was 7 months old when it snowed more here, and I had her in my arms and she was totally shivering. But, I think that it is just a preference. Dolly doesn't like being out in the wind.and Desi will stay in the corner of the yard until he sees the door open and after it is open about 10 or 15 seconds he will make a run for it.well, maybe he is running some and the wind is pushing him the rest of the way.but he likes to go out in the wind - and that doesn't make much sense to me. I am glad that he made it home safe. It's amazing how all dogs love the snow, but hate the rain! -------Original Message------- From: Deanna Corey <mailto:[email protected]> Date: 2/26/2011 4:29:23 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Chihuahuas] Snow!! Ok...last night while we were debating the moral issues of entitlement, we were being hammered with snow here in the mountains. My hubby, who normally would have been home by 10 pm didn't get up the mountain until 2:45am. It is still coming down hard...I will get some pics for you all later on...you should see my little ones...bouncing through the snow...little Madison disappeared before my eyes into a hole and got stuck!! ...and that was on my deck! I would never leave them unattended so she was just a little scared she couldn't get out...but can you imagine people that would leave their dogs out in this?? I am kind of amazed but even Myrtle is going outside in the snow through the doggie door to potty...I thought for sure we would be having "accident" day... Here is a little funny...Shuai Li , my 13 lb Shih tzu had climbed to the top of the biggest snow mound...about three feet...to do her morning pee. As she was going, her pee was melting the snow and all of a sudden she just vanished...sunk like a heated rock...poor bbaby....but she just finished her peeing and flew up out of the hole and bounded in the house...snow filled!! I guess my floors are going to be wet today!! Gotta go shovel! Wagging Tails in the Dog Park!
