Hi Ann

To advertise this way when you want to adopt chi's out, most likely is not the
best wording to use. But not all chi's are nice. Some are yappy little ones...
I know the one down stairs that just moved in barks all day long while the
owners are at work.

My ricky does not like anyone strange to try to touch him, he will bite. He is
possessive about his toys, and me.

If they adverised that chi's are the perfect pet for family and all that,
then the chi's would be adopted out to people/families who would find out after
the fact, that a chi is not really what they wanted. then they end up back in
the shelter again, or worse, thrown out in the back yard with no attention. "In
my opinion" this is not giving the chi a bad name, but rather telling people
that these are dogs for someone who can understand them and give them the
attention that they need and crave. some chi's are a one or 2 person dog. this
is there personality. They want them to go to forever homes the first time.

I know about a month after I got Ricky, he was so aggressive with me and my
daughter that I wanted to take him back to the shelter. I even wrote here to
the group that he was going back. Deanna, the sweet gal she is, talk me out of
it, and made me think about things before doing anything rash. THANK YOU
DEANNA! Now after 6 months things have calmed down... and I love Ricky to death

this makes me angry--you should see my chi pups play with people and the are
good with my young grand sons and never see a stranger. They are wonderful pets

This is the kind of advertising that gives all Chi's a bad name. And it is from
a Rescue Site!!

My Gigi has none of those qualities!! They don't say one thing that is nice
about the breed, how do they ever
expect to adopt them out!!!

Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe.
Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point
of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high
energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious
of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to
the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to
be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often
aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need
plenty of daily exercise.
