She came into my life at a time that she had a severe respiratory infection (could have been kennel cough) and I was very sad having just lost my mother whom I had always lived with. I would talk to Dolly like she would understand because she was the only one that I had to talk to. She would also lick away the tears from my face. My neighbors say that when I am holding her that she just looks at me and keeps watching my face and hearing and understanding every word that I say.
Just this morning, I realized something else. Usually when I turn on the microwave or the oven and she smells food, then she wants to go in her area and eat. So, this morning I had a piece of bread in my hand when she came in from outside.she wanted to go in her area and she was eating her kibble. Then, when I was done eating, she comes over to the side of her area where I am sitting and cries. So I get up and go to the side that I can leave her out, but she wants to eat some more. This is not the first time that she has done this, but I just realized that when she sees that I am done eating, she wants me to watch her until she is done. Such a little Diva! I took her to the dog park one time and she was fine until I took the leash off. Actually, I think that Dolly thinks of herself as a person and not a dog.
