I hope it works, You might also want to try bully sticks, they are great for
long time chewing and dogs love them. Well most dogs

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Finally - some good news

I just figured out how to wear out my dog in about 15 minutes.

Also...I may have found a way to break through to her. Hurray!

She's not a big 'treats' dog although she is food motivated. She didn't like
the cookies I bought her. So she gets small chunks of meat. She may very
well have eaten more of the lamb I cooked than I have.

I need to find a cookie she likes. Or just start hiding her kibble in my
jacket which she has commandeered.

BUT...I finally figured out what sort of attention she responds to. And for
the first time I was able to leave her in her hallway while I took a shower
and got dressed. without incident! NO HOWLING! OH my giddy aunt.

I have gotten her to play. I've managed to figure out, or perhaps she's
shown me, how to bring out her inner puppy. And she is now playing with the
Kong-like thing. A little not-quite-fetch. She's also a hand pouncer. No
chewing. Just batting with her paws.

She's in the office area with me. If she's going to be out of the hallway,
she has to be in my line of sight until I know she's not going to destroy
anything.

For now...there is peace in this household. For just a moment
anyway...sweet, lovely peace. Hopefully I have found the magic key to
dealing with her excessive energy. Fingers crossed.
