When Desi was small he knew if I had the gate across the master bathroom
doorway and he was in there, he would potty on the puppy pads. If he was
playing five feet away from the bathroom, he would just potty right on top
of his toys. He is doing better now except if he sees something on the
carpet.his toy or a toilet paper roll that I was using to pick up poop, he
will pee on top of it. Since I have been home from the hospital he has used
the puppy pads in the bathroom numerous times for pee, but poops on the
carpet. I have to figure this out, and I think it is just that the carpet
is softer under his feet than the puppy pads are. Keep trying.I think that
if I had the energy to see Desi doing the poop and scolding him for doing
it, he would go on the puppy pads again, or I could get him to bark to go
outside to poop. Is is one of those unknown things that we just have to
keep trying until our babies get it right.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Potty Woes

So Gigi is being trained to the litterbox. It was because she is so small
and she can not hold her bladder for the few hours I am at school.

Anyway when the litterbox is in her pen she will always use it, but when its
in her play area or just in the floor when she is loose she will not. She
will smell it investigate and play in it, but only use it for potty when she
is in her pen.

Why is this and how can I fix it?

Emberly
