My daughter has a 9 year old smooth dachshund who is a sweet, loving old girl. She began screaming in pain last week just randomly. The vet said she was having disc pain so he gave her a shot and prescribed some pills for the inflammation and pain. This was Saturday. Well, at 6:00 p.m. today, Princess started to have a seizure that lasted about 4 minutes. She was asleep and woke up seizing. My daughter called me all freaked out. I talked her down and told her to keep Princess from hurting herself and talk quietly and calmly to her until it was all over. When the seizure was over, she panted for awhile so I told her to continue soothing her with calm words and slow petting on her shoulder and belly. Any other suggestions, anyone? I had Pomeranians that would seize because of the open fonatelle but were just fine within an hour and it rarely occurred. I'm at a loss for senior dogs.
