Ok I understand where you guys are coming from but as a mom to a 16 year old
with Aspergers, all of this sounds legit. We have 6 chis. My son adores each
one and showers them with attention. He does however have deficits. He doesn't
understand when they are trying to let him know that they don't want to snuggle
with him. They are sometimes completely unaware of what is appropriate and what
isn't. They don't know the social norms. And they would absolutely not think
about what dangers could be outdoors. Especially
If it was his bday and he was excited and focused on that.
I am not making excuses for this guy but maybe he needs this group more than
any of us. People with autism love their pets more than they do people and they
have a connection with animals. It's like the animal knows. Being in a group
like this would be extremely helpful in making him a more responsible pet
owner. We may bring things to his knowledge that he never would have thought
of.
Like I said, not making excuses for the guy but it doesn't hurt any of us to
stop and think about how to understand people who think differently and reach
out to them. My two cents for free :)
