Hi all,
I adopted Mika (Meeka) a week and 3 days ago. I purchased Wellness super 5 mix
puppy food for her as I was told puppy food will provide her with better
nutrition. She is around a year old.
I feed my dogs twice a day, 12 hours apart. She woke up 2 mornings ago throwing
up clear liquid, like saliva. She wouldn't eat until around noon. The next day
it was the same. After researching, I found that her tummy was empty, hence the
throwing up of saliva. So last night I cooked rice in home made chicken broth
(no salt or spices) and fed her at 10:00 pm to alleviate the empty stomach in
the morning. This morning she was ready to eat with the others at 6:30am. She
did not throw up.
I am wondering what the best dry kibble is and if this is common with all of
you experienced chihuahua people. Has this ever happened to you? How much, how
often do you feed your chihuahuas?
Mika is 4.25 pounds now. I give her 1/4 cup with a bit of chicken broth and
about a teaspoon of diced chicken at 6:30am and 6:30pm. She ia my first chi. I
am envisioning her as a ball that I will eventually have to roll out the door
for potty breaks if I keep feeding her this much!!! So how do you provide
adequate calories and nutrition for your chihuahua?
Thanks everyone for your advice!!
Renee
