They have this potential issue anyway but the pull of a collar can completely collapse it. Harnesses or vest harnesses are the way to go. Sorry Peso has this condition. My Chi, Taylor, has had it ever since he was about 6 months old. He snorts and coughs and every once in a while he will have a day where he does it off and on all day. Luckily these days don't happen very often. The other thing that happens is sometimes I will be walking him and I will hear a sound that sounds like a frog. At first I thought thats what it was. Finally I figured out it was him. When he does this he doesn't seem in any distress. The vet said there are meds that will help him if needed but it can't be cured and surgery is expensive and very often ineffective. So it is something I live with with him and I worry that it will affect his quality of life at some point but right now he is OK for the most part. He will be 6 in March. Good luck!
