Hi, First, I have been so sick; I had some serious HOA issues to deal with since a week ago and had to call an emergency board meeting on Tuesday. I was so sick, and I did a walk-in appt with my doctor on Tuesday morning. Got there at 7:30 am, but didn't get called to the exam room until 9:00. The nurse knew that I had to get out of there by 9:45, and so they already did the sinus x-ray, breathing assessment, breathing treatment, and all the other normal stuff that they do. The doc did come in at 9:45 and knew that I had to leave. I have another sinus infection - and really bad this time. I also have a very bad case of bronchitis. I am on the super strong antibiotics again and they gave me an antibiotic injection. I have a new asthma inhaler, Nasonex, Steroids, antibiotics, and supposed to take Claritan every day. Then there is the normal pain meds, Lyrica, muscle relaxer, anti-inflammatory, zocor, metformin, and no I have to take the Glyburide for a while because the steroids and being sick raise the blood sugar. There may be more meds, I feel like I live in CVS. Well, I started being sick again shortly after Dolly got her stitches out of her belly. I just remember that I took the cone off of her after a couple of days to make sure that the belly was doing OK, and I watched her for little periods of time without the cone to make sure that she would not be licking it until all the little stitch holes closed completely. I let Desi lay with her again.
Well, Dolly demands that Desi clean her face, ears, etc. I have seen him licking her face before, but never where he was actually licking her eyeballs. I had to keep telling him not to lick her eyes. Yesterday they were both in the stroller and I put it by me while I was on the computer. I would look at Dolly and I thought her eyes were bloodshot. But when she followed my finger with her eyes, the whites of her eyes didn't look very bad. She had rings around her eyelids and I was giving her antihistamines and just thought her eyes were runny. Last night, I called my neighbor, Judy, and asked her if she could drive us to the vet this morning if Dolly's eye didn't look better. I got up and Desi was licking the eyeballs again, and I really thought that might be a sign of something worse, too. I called Judy and told her that Dolly's eyes still look strange, so I packed Dolly in the booster seat and Judy drove my car (I have too many meds in me, and when I start to cough it goes on and I don't want an accident from coughing.) We got to the vet and when we were sitting in the exam room waiting for Dr Bullard, blood started coming out of Dolly's eyes. When the vet came in, we could tell him that her eyes were bleeding. He said that there is a gland between the eyes and it gets blocked and then infected. He said it usually starts with little white dots around the eyelid.I told him that she did have that and I kept trying to stop Desi from licking her eyes when I saw that.but he continued - and she allowed - him to lick her eyeballs. He did a corneal flourestain on her, and she has Clavamox (I really need to buy stock in that company) and he said to give her eye ointment. I told him that I had so much trouble giving Desi ointment.he told me that it has to be the ointment to help this type of infection. So, Judy brought us home and I sat down with Dolly in the stroller (and the e-Collar back on) and gave her the Clavamox. Now to the part that I was dreading.the eye ointment. I opened the little box and I pulled out the little bottle. Then I unscrewed the top and it looked like the top for eyedrops. I thought, Wow.they must be very liquidy ointment. Then I read the bottle and the box and the label made by the vet was for something different. I had to call the vet and they said to bring it back, so I had to call Judy and see if she could take it back and they would replace it with the ointment. I finally got that and it was so much easier to do that with Dolly than it used to be with Desi. However, Desi is all bent out of joint because I went to the vet without him; and that I won't let him lay by her. I told him that Dr Bullard said he did a very good job trying to make Dolly's eyes better but now she needs medicine. I tried to restrict him from being in the stroller, and that didn't go so well, so I allowed him to lay further back. He was in there cleaning his legs and feet, and then he starts biting his toenails. As long as I hear that, I know he isn't licking her eyeballs. Well.I have to take her back in 10 days for Dr Bullard to check her eyes again. Another $150 bucks on top of the $275 for her hernia surgery at the middle of the month. On Tuesday, my meds cost almost $300. What can I do, we all have to get better. So, please pray for Dolly.I hope that she doesn't lose vision or anything. I feel so bad because I was so sick that I didn't even think that Desi licking her eyeballs was a sign of something bad. Important thing.we are taking our meds, and Desi will guard us and humor us. I tried to go through all the emails last night because if I waited a little longer, you may have all got worried about me again.
