Joan, I think you may be missing the point. People are not against vaccinating their dogs, just the frequency of doing it. As long as your dog has the initial puppy shots, or a Booster shot if an older dog, they are immune for life. It works the same way with humans who received most of there shots as a child, you only need it one time unless you are going out of the country and certain disease are still prevalent there.
Read the previous post from the AAHA and you will see that even the Vets that have their own dogs, do not repeat those shots every year, but rather do a titer to see if the dog already has enough immunity. We can do the same thing, rather then risk harming our dogs. BTW, a lot of dogs don't show just how bad over immunizing can be until they are in there senior years. Others can have a bad reaction even 2 months after receiving a Booster. As each year goes by and the dog gets the same Boosters, he is more likely to show some reaction to it, as compared to the first couple of years of receiving them. A lot of Vets are against the 3 year protocol because they feel that people will stop bringing their dogs in for a yearly check up, which is a huge loss of revenue for them. You can google it and you will find that at the AAHA hearings that was the main reason why some opposed it. We all have to do what we all feel is best for our own dog, but I think that it is important for each of us to do our own research first, and not depend on just one Vets opinion, before making that final decision. -------Original Message------- From: Joan Croft Date: 1/28/2012 10:12:42 PM To: Joan Croft Subject: [Chihuahuas] FW: Does My Dog Really Need Vaccinations? I just got this very timely with our discussion of vaccinations. Hi Joan, This is a question which I seem to get asked very frequently, are dog vaccinations REALLY needed in today's modern society? And are all the vaccines proven to be effective with guarding against what they are supposed to prevent? http://www.topdogclub.com/dog-vaccinations So many dog owners seem to forget how easy it is for our loved pooches to become infected with viruses and other illnesses, and become so sick that they almost lose their lives. Could all these cases have been avoided with one single vet visit and a quick 'jab'. And can these avoidable illnesses ever be passed on to Humans and in particular children that play with our loved pooches. If you want to learn more about DOG VACCINATIONS, such as what they are for, and their administration ages, take a look at this in depth report, it has helped me look at vaccinations closely and in a different way! http://www.topdogclub.com/dog-vaccinations Sally Bradford 4281 Express Lane Suite L2795 Sarasota, FL 34238 USA To unsubscribe or change subscriber options visit: http://www.aweber.com/z/r/?HEzsHEyMtCwcjGxsLMystGa0nJwcHMycrA==
