Lucky me, Princess is not aggressive with people at all, never was. She hasn't shown any aggression towards Gigi either. She just wants to chase cats and squirrels. She wasn't a whiney dog until I got Gigi. Now she whines for anything she can't have. I think she learned that game when at the beginning I was giving into her and interfering with her and Gigi, instead of just letting them work out who gets what bed, and toy. Thing is, they just stare at each other and then they whine, LOL! I think it is funny! They act just like two whiny little girls and make me laugh!

Sorry your JR is such a beast. At his age there isn't anything you can do about it.

I don't trust him as far as I can throw him and since I can barely pick him up, that is not far.  He has no problem growling, snapping, etc at a human, so I can't trust him with another dog.  He is one of these prey drive dogs who should be an only dog.  He barely tolerates my dogs and they don't trust him a bit.  And fixating on something and whining and crying and barking..double ugh..annoying to a max..

Princess does the same thing when she sees a cat out the window. Whines and cries and paces and smells at the door. Ugh, that prey drive! Thank goodness she hasn't broken any blinds. I don't worry about my girls together as they never play or sleep with each other. They tolerate each other, yet if need be, Princess would protect Gigi.

Evelyn, are you the other person in this group who also has an Eskie?

Pam, I am in the same situation. My boyfriend has a psycho 22lbs Jack Russell that loves to hunt stuff (especially shadows) and will tear up window shades to get to a lizard he sees outside. It amazes me how he sees them sometimes, when they are hiding. He spots them so easily but he get crazy and paces the house whining cause he wants the lizard. Anyway, he and my chis get along fine but he sometime teases one of my chis and will tease her till she gets mad. I stop him the moment he starts but sometimes I don't catch him till she is already mad. I don't want this going on when I am not around to supervise so the two chi are put in one of the bedrooms when I am not around. I honestly do not trust the Jack Russell.

I am the same way with my Chis and my husband's Jack Russell.  He has the Jack psycho button and a strong prey drive even at 16.  When I leave the house, the Chis are in my bedroom with the door closed.  When I am here I watch them like a hawk.  I am responsible and if anything happened it would be my fault. He also knows first hand my displeasure if he goes off on my chis but that said a disaster could happen in a moment.
I wish more Pitt owners were like you Deanna..there would be less heartbreak.  If people would realistically know their potential, not treat them like mushy babies, and take appropriate precautions..

I wonder if its in their attitudes!!! No Chi I have ever had has been afraid of a thing...my Myrtle...as Diva as she is, can keep a 65 lb GSD pup in his place! She has totally taught him how to behave around small dogs!!! He even walks different around her...she puts up with nothing! I have had 7 Chis in my lifetime...all have been the same...fearless...smart...and no nonsense type of dogs! Maybe they just exude a challenge...and a dog that doesn’t know one...have a relationship with one...might just see it as a fight! That being said...you guys need to know I never mix my littles and my Bigguns unless I am RIGHT there and tuned in! Everyone loves each other but Im taking NO chances...Myrtle is 4lbs...Mouse is 5...it could happen in a second...even just rough play. SO...I am ALWAYS there!!! And...as much as I love Maxine our Pit??? I would NEVER let her be with the littles...even with me right there!! She has small prey aggression...not towards people...but towards dogs and cats or any other animal smaller than her! She is an amazing dog but I know her...and most pits have a high prey drive! And...they are silent about it...never a warning...just an attack. She stays completely separated at all times!...in a different location and double fenced in my son’s part of the house. I am all for Pitts...don’t get me wrong...GREAT dogs!!! Just not with smaller dogs!!!

Oh this is just horrific! Can't imagine what she must be going through! My sympathies to your friend.

If that was the AKC show here, the dog and owner and handler would be banned from ever showing that dog again, and they would be heavily fined as well.  The dog would be banned because showing isn't just about good looks to the standard, but also of sound temperament for every breed. His name should be taken off of the AKC Breeding registry as well.

I maybe wrong, but somehow I bet the handler knew that this dog had an aggression issue. It just doesn't pop up out of nowhere.
And why is it that so many different large dog breeds always seem to want to attack a chi over other toy breeds?! I have heard of too many stories and it always seems to be that the chi is the victim more then any other small dog. I don't get that one!

Yesterday, the breeder, and my friend (Teresa West) that I got my Myrtle from had her little male Chi attacked and killed at a dog show he was entered in!! A Husky who was also being shown, broke loose and attacked Whiskey!!...killing him!! I'm just sick!!! I believe this was the Glendale, CA show. There are so many things wrong with this but we were just talking about shows and how poorly they were doing things nowadays...allowing bad tempered dogs in the ring!! Well...here is just another result of that kind of thing...we were talking about showing ill tempered dogs for the purpose of furthering the breed and how sad that was...and here something happens so horrible...another angle we didn't consider!! Things really do need to change!! Maybe this may be the catalyst for some of those changes if we all scream loud enough!!! I'm just sick...so many loved Whiskey...he was a fabulous little guy...such a great personality!!! I know Teresa is devastated and heart broken!!! Please pray for her and that this life will not be lost in vain!!
