Thank you, Linda.
Dolly has had this respiratory thing since she was 8 weeks old (at least).
About a year or so ago, I asked the vet if we kept her on the Atarax if that
would stop the infections. He decided to give it a try...the allergens are so
high for the last many months, and she doesn't understand that is why she is
sick...the vet said to not restrict her from going out, because the Sun has
some benefits...I just try to restrict how long she is out there. She is going
longer periods of time without an infection, but sometimes despite the meds,
that infection creeps in. If I hear her breathing start to be labored, I let
her rest more and even try to hold her a little more so that she is a better
position for her lungs to open easier. Two days max, and she is at the vet.
It is easier for her to get better that way. Her eyes look a lot better this
morning, and it is a little struggle to get the eyedrops in, but easier than
when I had to put ointment in her eyes. It is hard seeing her be sick so often,
but the best that can be done for her is to get the drops in her eyes, the
antibiotics helping both the respiratory and the eye infections, and some
rest...and of course, the extra time to be with me that calms her and helps her
to get the extra sleep.
