I rarely post but I do read every single email sent to the groups. At one point, I had over 6500 emails. I got through them all, I'm proud to say. I started out with six dogs; three Chihuahuas and three mini dachshunds. Then in June, I adopted an English Bulldog puppy. Her name is Lucy (she has a brindle mark over her left eye shaped like a heart). I thought heart = I Love Lucy (one of my favorite shows growing up) and so it was a done deal Then in late August, I was notified by a friend that a neighbor of his moved and left their dapple dachshund in their backyard. They, apparently, attempted to place the dog, Bentley, via Craigslist but no one would take him because he has awful bald patches from what they described as genetic mange. My friend said Bentley was an indoor dog for 2 1/2 years until the owner had a baby 6 months ago and then they put the dog outside 24/7. My friend never thought they would leave the dog behind just because no one claimed it. Anyway, I picked Bentley up and got him vet checked intending to keep him a week or two and then find a suitable home for him. Well, you probably guessed it by now. He is heartworm positive. I have started the least expensive treatment on him and pray he will be negative in a few months. He is the sweetest, most loveable guy. I am attaching pictures of the pack behind a side gate at the house when my husband is doing yard work, a picture of Lucy the bulldog and a picture of Bentley the foster (yeah, he will probably stay) dog plus an extra picture of Lucy and Dalton highlighting her heart mark. I don't want people to think I am a hoarder because I know my limits but it just seems like Bentley has gotten attached to us and has integrated himself into the pack so well. His skin problem was not mange of any kind but a flea allergy. His red, blistery skin has now cleared up with antibiotics, Benadryl, a routine daily spraying of Listerine/baby oil/ water that I got from one of my yahoo groups and is TRYING to grow hair, lol. He is sweet and loving and jumps on my lap and hugs me by putting his head on my shoulder and falling asleep. It aggravates me how he was left behind like their trash. Anyway, I just wanted to share my pack with people who won't judge me or think I'm crazy. My husband is always supportive of what I do so that is definitely not an issue. I hope everyone is having good weather. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas and our high is supposed to be 70 today. After having a summer full of triple digit weather, I'm delirious. Thanks for reading.
