Do you feed him turkey or lamb base food? Both of those produce gas from my
experience when I tried a couple of different brands of kibble on Gigi and
Princess which are two different breeds. So I stay away from them.

Cosmos does that when he has a gassy stomach. The bow and stretch plus I
can hear his tummy all over the room.

Interesting. So if they stretch after they bow, then that is different then
doing the crawly thing, or just staying in the bow position?
Reason I am asking is because Gigi does have a mild liver disorder. Where
did you learn about this? I would like to read more on this if you have any
links.

Dogs with intestinal pain do a play bow/stretch and hold it for several
seconds to try and relieve pain.

Robin, Why did you ask if she did the bow thing? Gigi does the bow thing and
then crawls when she wants attention if I pass her by, or she will do that
if I say it is time to go wee wee. I thought that was just a submissive
behavior common to chis?

In any event I would take her to the Vet and have her checked out to make
sure she didn't eat some that she should not have and it may be
blocking her digestion. My sisters shih-tzu was having digestion problems
as you described and when they xrayed her, she was loaded with
calcium stones and had to have an emergency operation and is on a special
diet and doing well. She had been having those same symptoms for almost a
year. If they didn't operate she wouldn't be here today. So you never know
and a check up is always a good idea.

Royal Canin is not a good food, corn is the first ingredient. There is no
one top food but a holistic vet or pet store can steer you to several
choices. Tight abdomen is usually gas and rumbling can be from being empty
to upset, sounds like she gets colicky, does she play bow/stretch then too?
There are lots of easier on the tummy flavors such as salmon and sweet
potato and salmon and oatmeal etc. What treats either doggy or people does
she get? Sometimes a food, activity and med diary helps. Does she get
heartworm or flea meds before her tummy upsets? Does she visit the pet store
and get a cookie? Does the water guy drop by and feed her a snack? Do you
use a cleaner to wash something at the same time or spray for roaches, fleas
or spiders?

Gail <windysho...@yahoo.com> w rote:

My chi is extremely healthy for her ten years, but she has stomach problems
at least once a month. I make her a mix of chicken and wellness food lately,
but even that is making her sick. When she is very hungry she enjoys royal
canine dry
which doesn't seem to make her sick, but she only eats it if she is very
hungry. She seems to prefer all chicken, but that doesn't seem balanced.
Her symptoms are a very tight abdomen with loud gurgling noises and lsome
vomiting.

When I rescued her she had parvovirus virus. I wonder what is, he easiest
and highest quality to feed my girl.

Any advice please?
