“I for one don’t understand your question. “

Well, when Chirp is updated and, is offered for all of us to install, as a new
version, I, like many, take advantage of that new version by downloading it to
my computer. Well, where I download it to, there are already, many older
versions of Chirp, that had been previously down loaded, as 8 of them, in my
case. All I’m asking is, can I delete the older versions and just keep the most
recent one? And, will deleting any of the older versions, cause any harm to any
of the files I’ve created for programming of my radios?

Mine automagically installs the latest and greatest when it comes out. I used
to have a collection of them but
I decided I was going to let it do it's thing, installed the PPA and turned it
loose. Now I only have one, the latest
and greatest...

Hey gang,
 I don’t mean to insert myself or a question in the middle of some folks asking
questions about their ops on Chirp but, I figure my question might help others
too. Chirp has a new daily install on a fairly often basis due to upgrades,
changes, fixes and more. And, I think I’ve seen on here that, you can simply
install the new, daily upgraded/updated Chirp, right over the top of the
version you already have and, it will cause no issues due to you already having
an earlier version.

Well, I just counted and, I have EIGHT installs of Chirp.exe. So far, in my
goofing around with programming buddies UV-5R Baofengs, I’ve encountered no
issues while having that many installs.

So, my question is, can I get rid of any and all versions of the Chirp.exe that
say, were the earlier versions?

Thankyou everyone. sorted now.

Tom Henderson sent me this:-
==========
I just updated mine to the latest daily using the following steps:

 1. Under the download page for chirp, click the link under "Other Linux
    users."
 2. Download the latest daily tar.gz file
 3. Extract that file
 4. change to the directory you just extracted
 5. type "sudo python setup.py install"
=============
and everything just worked, many thanks Tom.
