25.4 mm = 2.54 cm = (aprox) 1 English inch
This is also very close to 1 American inch.  The main problem in the
imperial system besides the very arbitrary unit sizes is the problem of
every country using THEIR standard unit.  As a Canuck I grew up knowing
that precision measurements required specifying the standard.

Can we please drop this hijack and get back to the question.
