Hi Milt, I don’t own a UV-3, but apparently it does not use the same K1-style cable for programming as most Baofengs, rather, it uses a single 1/8” TRRS plug. More details here: http://www.uv3r.com
You might find that Mark (KJ6ZWL) at BlueMax49ers.com has a compatible FTDI cable off the shelf.
