Yes, and indiscriminately using the terms may cause data loss.
That is why I point it out when I think someone really means copy and paste.

'Cut and Paste' is used to move data from one location to another, usually in 
the same document, and makes permanent changes to the source material.



'Copy and Paste' is much more commonly used when duplicating data from one 
location to another, and has no effect on the source material.
