Issue 2576: proxy_resolver_winhttp.cc http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=2576
Comment #3 by sant9442: It clearly says in the Chrome Windows Build Requirements: Build environment "Windows Vista SDK 6.0 or later (download). The Windows 2008 SDK is also supported." So based on that the presumption is that the 2008 SDK (v6.1) which is newer than v6.0 VISTA SDK version, was TESTED, documented as supported and thus it is OK for CHROME rebuilds. So I don't see HOW you have the audacity to suggest I don't know follow instructions. If it is VISTA SDK only, then have it say "The Windows 2008 SDK is also supported." I didn't mix setup. I had a clean VS2005 setup with its original SDK out of the "box" updated with the SP1, hotfixes, and then I did the 2008 SDK. I checkout the source code, loaded CHROME.SLN and followed the TIP to do a quick build on it only. I think that is the mistake because I believe the dependencies are not all correct. Then it as it failed to link each dependent lib, I went to that project and attempted to compiled. That is when I got interrupted with the WINHTTP.CC compiling error. Many thing occurred inbetween then and now, but it is CLEAR to me that who ever put this together need to review it because if YOU believe that isolated project BUILDs should be different then a total integrated project build, then thats a matter of arrogance at this point to say it won't be fixed. No sweat, not that I know what the problem is - let the next guy figured it all out. But if you are interested in improving the process for the next guy - there are new insights here that you can learn from and add to the Chrome Windows Build Page. Personally, you should be able to COMPILE a isolated project without having it being part of the total solution, especially since is a big solution that have performance problems under the VSTUDIO IDE. So personally to me, that would be something I WOULD FIX. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
