It's not like the Firefox developers do that just to annoy you, of course.  
Sure, you can force installation by
using the Nightly Tester Tool, but you will most likely run into trouble.  
See for instance this comment on the
add-on page:

'It is very useful to make themes work that haven't been or won't b  
updated.... However I am gettin scroll bars
missing or tabs not showing on these themes that are "forced". Is this just  
me or...'

Anyway, what I meant to say was that Firefox add-ons are programmed after a  
very complex API, which is
also a moving target. To make running these add-ons in Chrome possible,  
would mean replicating most of
Firefox itself, and then keep that up-to-date.
