Sure, you can force installation by using the Nightly Tester Tool, but you will most likely run into trouble. See for instance this comment on the add-on page: 'It is very useful to make themes work that haven't been or won't b updated.... However I am gettin scroll bars missing or tabs not showing on these themes that are "forced". Is this just me or...' Anyway, what I meant to say was that Firefox add-ons are programmed after a very complex API, which is also a moving target.
