Either you have antivirus or a firewall app that is blocking access to port  
80 (the
port used by web servers to send you pages) by Google Chrome.  My McAfee  
has an
exclusion list that allows apps in that list access to port 80.  Since  
Google Chrome
is a new browser it is not in the list.  Add chrome.exe to the list of  
excluded
processes in McAfee/Virus Scan Console/Access Protection/Port Blocking and  
it will
work again with McAfee enabled.

Windows firewall and other virus protection apps will also do the same  
thing as well
as other firewall systems.  Heck, it might not even be on your own  
computer. Your
home network or office might have a firewall that is blocking access.
