Issue 165: Installer fails with error 4 http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=165
Comment #23 by [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Additional information: I uninstalled google updater from the add/remove programs in case this was a causing the conflict, didn't fix the problem. Then uninstalled Google Earth and Google Earth Plugin. There were two GoogleUpdate processes running, after uninstalling Google Earth one GoogleUpdate process disappeared from the process list. However when running the installer a second GoogleUpdate starts in the process list and the install fails. Even when killing both GoogleUpdates and running the download and install, two GoogleUpdates are started. Both are the same file (C:\Documents and Settings\Jon\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Update\GoogleUpdate.exe) No Google products in the add/remove dialog box. After install fails, googleupdate is still running as a process. To get Chrome working! - Kill any GoogleUpdate process, go to the download page and download - run Chrome. When the two GoogleUpdate processes start, quickly kill the first one. Chrome now installs and run correctly. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
