New issue 4694 by staing: Download not installing desktop icon and quick start icon http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=4694 Chrome Version : 0.3.154.9 URLs (if applicable) : Other browsers tested: Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue: Safari 3: Firefox 3: IE 7: What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Go to google.com/chrome 2. Download and install 3. Wait for dialog box to go away What is the expected result? Desktop icon and quick start icon show up What happens instead? Neither show up. In the Start menu, you can open via All Programs > Google Chrome > Google Chrome, but that is not how most people navigate. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. Not sure what is the cause of this but I tried downloading Chrome and thought it failed because I did not see the desktop icon (quick start icon didn't appear either). Turns out that's why my mom said her install was unsuccessful when she tried twice before. I went and added them manually. Is this a known issue? More details if it helps: * OS: XP * Browser used to download: Firefox 2.0.0.18 * Chrome version: 0.3.154.9 * Date & Time of 1st download attempt: Sept 2, 2008 3:17 PM EST * Date & Time of most recent download attempt: Nov 21 2008 11:11 PM EST I am attaching the .exe file, not sure if that will help.
