New issue 4906 by steve.yegge: italicized preformatted text is too tall http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=4906 Chrome Version : 0.4.154.25 URLs (if applicable) : Other browsers tested: Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue: Safari 3: OK Firefox 3: OK IE 7: OK What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Make two pre elements side by side (e.g. one is float: left, margin-top: 0) 2. Put line numbers in one, separated by either br elements or newlines 3. Put source code in the other one, and set its style to font-style: italic What is the expected result? The line numbers in the left div should align with the lines in the right div. What happens instead? The italicized characters are slightly taller than the non-italicized ones (about 10% taller), so they don't line up. They line up in all other browsers, even lynx. Especially lynx. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. I've attached a simple HTML file that demonstrates the problem.
