I was able to (non) crash chrome by just clicking on google.com domains.   
It is
interesting that when I restarted Chrome, my firewall announced that Chrome  
was
trying to access the internet.  I wonder if it sent you all a message.  It  
is 3:08 on
12/15/2008.  It did take a long time to crash and while I was doing it I  
accidentally
clicked on USA Today at which point it crashed immediately.  I then crashed  
the
second and final tab on just google.com sites.  They were gmail and hosted  
gmail
accounts.
