I think this is by design (that is, a feature and not a bug). I think the logic behind it is that generally when a word is typed in, for example, Hebrew, then the phrase searched (if a phrase rather than a word is being searched) will most probably be a phrase in Hebrew and therefore it makes more sense to align the text to the right. This heuristic is certainly not perfect, but it is correct most of the times (I think).
