Comment #5 on issue 251 by bquandt: FireEagle text rendering incorrectly (not the transparent gif issue) http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=251
Not my bug, but I've been watching this one. May be a dupe of http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=559 (or really 559 is a dupe of this). Pownce has closed, so using that to repro won't work. Slashdot (http://slashdot.org/) exhibits the same behavior with the blurry text. See it as the category to the left of any article title on the front page (e.g. "Hardware:", "Science:", "Technology:", "News:", etc.). It appears on any text with opacity set < 1.0 and a font-smoothing technology in use on the OS. In WinXP, Display Properties->Appearance->Effects...->Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts. When this is checked, and either option ("Standard" or "ClearType") is selected, the rendered text with opacity set will show exactly as shown in the original attached example. The blurriness is more pronounced with ClearType in use, but it's still there with Standard smoothing enabled as well. When no smoothing is employed, all text is "blocky" so the blurriness is either gone or much less pronounced (enough that the regular text looks bad too). I have not tried the latest nightly, but I'm on the most recent update for the developer channel and can still confirm this issue on that (1.0.154.42). -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
