New issue 7407 by patrick.vernon: Collapsing Whitespace in Text Fields
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=7407

Chrome Version : 1.0.155.0
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested: FF, IE
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
      Safari 3:
     Firefox 3: OK
          IE 7: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. enter three words separated by a space in a textbox
2. select the second word (excluding the spaces to the left and the right)
3. hit 'delete' or 'backspace

What is the expected result?
The two remaining words should be separated by two spaces.

What happens instead?
The two remaining words are separated by one space.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

I'm guessing this is intentional and was added to make the interface more
intuitive, since people usually wouldn't want two spaces between words, but
it leads to some counterintuitive side effects.
