Anyone who still experiences this problem, can you try the following steps for me? 1. Download http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/continuous/2009-02-09/9392/chrome- win32.zip 2. Unzip it. 3. Make a shortcut to the chrome.exe in that directory. 4. Edit the shortcut properties, and add this to the end of Shortcut -> Target (without quotes): " --user-data-dir=bla --enable-logging -log-level=0" 5. Run the shortcut and go to gears.google.com. Repeat this step until you see a page *without* the version or "Install Gears" blue box on the right-hand side. 6. Find the file "chrome_debug.log" in the directory you unzipped chrome_win32.zip to. 7.
