I have the exact same problem. The status bar turns black and is visible at
all
times.
My environment:
HP TX2500us notebook with 3GB RAM, 2GHz AMD Turion Processor.
Fresh installation of Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1, 32-bit).
Fresh installation of Google Chrome with settings & bookmarks imported from
Firefox.
