Comment #1 on issue 7848 by [email protected]: Custom Search
Engine functionality doesn't work when pasting URLs
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=7848
This is by design. If you have copied a URL into clipboard (Ctrl+C) and type
<keyword><space>Ctrl+v, the Omnibar does not turn to search UI mode.
The other way you can check this:
Right click on Address bar (Omnibar), you can notice "Paste and go" as one
of context
menu option, instead of "Paste and search" (this option is enabled, if you
copy a
single word in to clipboard)
The reason it works with manually typing:
<Keyword><space> Type any single letter, then you are immediately entered
into search
UI mode.
ccing to peter for any comments !
