After some testing, I’ve figured out that my main speed problem (100% CPU  
usage) in
Chrome is due to the HOSTS file being repeatedly throttled (completely  
read) for
pretty much every single DNS query. Disabling it allows Chrome to be nice  
and snappy
like it was when it first came out (yes, I did have the HOSTS file on in  
Sep.08). Of
course this is not a solution. I do not want porn ads and malware, not to  
mention I
need the virtual hosts for testing.
