Sorry, I have now figured out what exactly was the issue with my laptop. I have using a program that that enhances the mouse functions called 'KatMouse'. It works when I set the program to ignore 'chrome.exe'. Sorry again for the confusion, but as I've said before, the other browsers are not affected by this program.
