Initially, automatic login could consider "Intranet" zones to be any  
host-name that
has no dot.  i.e., http://localhost or http://machinename.  This may solve  
some easy
scenarios that won't need a specific white-list.  Then, later, a white-list  
can be
provided for those who have Intranets on a standard domain name and need to  
access it
through the IP address or through the domain name.  Just my two cents.
